Over the past five years or so, the Los Angeles Dodgers have been arguably one of the most talented young team in the MLB. With up-and-coming stars like Andre Ethier, Matt Kemp and pitching ace Clanton Kershaw, this team was thought to have a bright future, but no matter what they do the franchise continues to slip back into mediocrity in one of the worst divisions in all of baseball (NL West).
It is still a bit too early to say that all hope is lost for the Los Angeles Dodgers as they do have Kemp and Ethier playing at an extremely high level right now, but they just can’t seem to put the right kind of talent around these two cornerstones in order to turn to the Dodgers back into a winning ball club.
When Manny Ramirez came to town a few years ago, the Dodgers were arguably one of the best teams in baseball as they had their superstar at the plate, some good starting pitchers and talented young players that were coming up. Ever since Manny left, this team has gone into a downward spiral and with the new problems concerning Dodgers owner Frank McCourt, there is no telling what will happen to this team in the future.
One thing seems for certain this season, the Los Angeles Dodgers will not be able to get back into the playoffs as they currently sit in fourth place in the lowly NL West division with a record of 28-33 with the defending World Series champion San Francisco Giants atop the division once again (34-26).
Not only are the San Francisco Giants making a case for another NL West division title, but the Arizona Diamondbacks are also playing extremely well right now as they are just one game back of the champs. With that being said, this could be yet another long and disappointing season for the Los Angeles Dodgers out West.
